Flex Banner Printing: Sizes, Materials and Price Guide
What is flex banner printing?
Flex banners are printed on PVC vinyl material using large-format inkjet printers. They are used for outdoor and indoor advertising, event backdrops, shop fronts, hoardings, and exhibitions. The term "flex" in India commonly refers to both backlit (translucent) and frontlit (opaque) vinyl.

Material types explained
- Frontlit flex (260 GSM) — most common, opaque, for outdoor daylight use
- Backlit flex (440 GSM) — translucent, used with lightbox illumination
- Star flex — premium frontlit with bright white base, better colour reproduction
- Mesh banner — perforated for windy outdoor locations, allows airflow
- Canvas — premium indoor use, exhibition displays, photography backdrops
Finishing options
Standard finishing includes hemming (reinforced edges) and eyelet placement every 2 feet. Ask for: top and bottom poles for free-hanging banners, grommets for wall mounting, or pole pockets for retractable stands.
File preparation tips
Provide artwork in the actual print size at 72 DPI (not 300 — flex printers use lower resolution due to viewing distance). CMYK colour mode. Include 2–3 inch bleed on all sides. Save as PDF or AI. For banners over 4 feet wide, your shop may request the file at 1:10 scale.
