Pamphlet Printing Cost per 1,000 in India: What Drives the Price
Pamphlets and flyers are still one of the cheapest ways to reach a local area in India — newspaper inserts, door-to-door drops, counter handouts and event distribution. The price per 1,000 copies depends on a handful of choices. This guide explains each one and gives indicative ranges so you can sanity-check the quotes you receive.
Indicative pamphlet printing cost per 1,000

What drives the price
1. Quantity — the biggest lever
Printing has fixed setup costs. On small runs those costs are spread over few copies, so the per-copy price is high. As quantity rises, the per-copy price falls sharply — 5,000 pamphlets rarely cost five times as much as 1,000.
2. Digital vs offset
Digital printing has almost no setup, so it is cheaper for a few hundred copies and delivers fast. Offset printing needs plates, but becomes far cheaper per copy for larger runs — typically from a few thousand copies upward. Our offset vs digital guide explains the crossover in detail.
3. Size
A4 uses roughly twice the paper of A5. A6 and DL (one-third A4) sizes are popular for counter handouts and cost less again.
4. Paper
Newspaper inserts and mass distribution often use 70–90 GSM paper. Flyers meant to be kept, like menus or price lists, look better on 130–170 GSM art paper. See our paper GSM guide.
5. Single vs double-sided
Printing the back adds cost, but much less than doubling it — and you get twice the space for offers, maps and contact details.
6. Folding and finishing
Folded leaflets (bi-fold, tri-fold) add a folding charge. Lamination on flyers is rarely worth it unless they will be handled for months.
Ways to reduce cost per 1,000
- Batch your print runs. Printing 10,000 once is cheaper than 2,000 five times.
- Use standard sizes. Shops buy paper in sizes that cut neatly into A4, A5 and A6.
- Keep the design generic. Leave out dates and short-term prices so leftover stock stays usable; add a sticker or stamp for offers.
- Send a print-ready file. Design charges add up quickly; see our print-ready file checklist.
- Get three quotes on the same spec. Prices for the same job can differ a lot between shops.

Distribution matters as much as printing
Budget for how pamphlets reach people. Newspaper insertion is usually charged per thousand by local distributors, and door-to-door teams charge per day or per thousand. A good pamphlet in the wrong hands is wasted, so match the quantity to the area you can actually cover.
- Put a clear offer and one call to action on the front.
- Add a QR code or WhatsApp number to track responses.
- Use different codes on different batches to see which areas respond best.
